Geese, Getting Killed (Partisan):
The rock band’s highly-anticipated new album has been described by Rough Trade as a “chaotic comedy, shambolic in structure but passionately performed, informed by an exacting vision.”
The Starting Line, Eternal Youth (Lineage):
The pop-punk band releases its first studio effort in 18 years. Said frontman Kenny Vasoli of the record, “We really tried to simplify things as far as the approach. I had this unspoken motive. I didn’t want to use any effects at all. I didn’t vocalize that from the beginning. I didn’t want to make that known amongst the producers and mixers. I was just seeing how much we could get away with if we didn’t even put a delay on anything. That’s how the bands I love sound when they play live. I wanted to capture that sound. The bare minimum of what it takes to make punk music.”
Dying Wish, Flesh Stays Together (SharpTone):
The Portland metallic hardcore band releases its third studio album. Said singer Emma Boster of the work in a press release, “Flesh Stays Together is a discovery, a journey of grief and a statement. Together we face the most unacceptable conditions in our lifetimes. Every tragedy becomes our own yet we have never been more separated. Flesh is a vicious wake up call. Slowly and painfully we approach the end we deserve.”
Rainbow Kitten Surprise, bones (Atlantic):
The indie rockers return with their fifth studio effort, following up the more eclectic Love Hate Music Box with something that gets back to the roots of their sound. Relates singer Ela Melo, “I remember we were doing a media training thing ahead of the last album, and I remember saying to the coach at the time, “Here’s how I see RKS; musically, it starts with a whisper and ends with a roar, and the band is that roar.” And I have to say, you really hear the band roar on this record.”
Terra Atlantic, Oceans (Scarlet):
The German power-metal band releases its fourth album, continuing to explore the nautical depths in tracks filled with “powerful riffs, exotic rhythms, cinematic/atmospheric sounds, and soaring choruses that demand to be performed live with the energy of a storm.”
