October 03, 2025 Release Highlights:
AFI, Silver Bleeds The Black Sun (Run for Cover):
The punk band reinvents themselves again on their 12th studio album, this time heading in a more 80’s-inspired death rock/post-punk direction.
Thrice, Horizons/West (Epitaph):
The post-hardcore band releases a companion album to 2021’s Horizons/East. Said frontman Dustin Kensrue, “A lot of this record is about parsing reality. We’re constantly being influenced by algorithms, by fear, by our own social echo chambers. Horizons/West tries to pull the curtain back on some of that.”
Agriculture, The Spiritual Sound (The Flenser):
The Los Angeles black metal band’s sophomore album is described on their Bandcamp as “trac(ing) a narrative arc through extremes: searing, sky-cracking catharsis on side A; a slow-burning, devotional undercurrent on side B.”
Hooded Menace, Lachrymose Monuments of Obscuration (Season Of Mist):
The death-doom pioneers continue to evolve their sound on their seventh studio effort, turning more towards psychological horror and added 80’s heavy metal influences.
Michael Schenker Group, Don’t Sell Your Soul (earMusic):
With the second part of his current trilogy, the veteran hard rocker reflects lyrically about his career, saying “I’m singing about what I did, why I did it, how I did it. And that connects with my journey.”
The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, X’s For Eyes (Better Noise):
The band’s sixth studio effort reunites much of the team that brought their breakthrough Don’t You Fake It for another go-around two decades later. It also includes songs the band have been kicking around for that same length of time, finally giving them an official release.
