Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine is Metal Insider’s new column during this time of isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We asked artists five questions on what’s been keeping them busy ranging from their favorite movies, food they’ve been eating, music they’ve been listening to and more. We caught up with Jake Bartolic’s solo post-hardcore project Morning In May as he’s been spending this time writing new material.

What have you been doing to pass time during Quarantine?

I spent a lot of my time in quarantine writing new material, working with different producers to get my sound just right. I moved into a new apartment since touring has been suspended, andI spent some time watching a lot of different movies.

Have you been listening to any music or have any playlists worth checking out?

I’ve been listening to ModSun and comedian Joe Rogan, but really getting into quantum mechanics by listening to Neil deGrasse Tyson, Bill Nye.

A lot of people have been spending this time cooking including making their own bread, what food have you been prepping during this time?

I actually have made bread, then turned that bread into homemade pizza. I fermented my own cider. I also like making guac and pico de gallo.

In terms of entertainment, what movies, TV shows, books, or games have been keeping you busy?

I’m not the hugest gamer, but when I do I like to play Rocket League, and The Walking Dead for VR (virtual reality.) As far as shows, I’ll scroll through Netflix, I’ve watched a couple documentaries on aliens and then a lot of Stand Up specials.

What advice do you have for your fans in isolation during this time?

Get ready to be yourself, get ready to hit the ground running. Treat these next few months to plan how you’re going to take over. Go live your life for real now and for God sakes go to a local show.
