Metal By Numbers is a weekly column in which we look at the top metal sellers and debuts of the week.

Once again we have a week featuring a large amount of debuts, 15 to be exact. Gatecreeper leads the pack with a top 30 debut. Not only did the band’s second album chart, but it sold almost 4 times the amount Sonoran Depravation sold in its first week. That may sound like a no brainer: a band puts out its debut album, gains more of a following during touring cycles, and its next album see an increase in sales. But it doesn’t always go that way. Bands sometimes stagnate or don’t quite reach the same level of sales as previous albums. But it’s good to see fresh blood leading the charge.
