Here’s the song of the year ruined by Slipknot’s DJ

sidwilsonWe like metal and hard rock here at Metal Insider, so we’re not going to claim to be experts on electronica (or EDM, as it’s called now). So maybe this is genius, but DJ Starscream, who’s better known as Slipknot’s DJ Sid Wilson, has decided to remix Lorde’s “Royals,” which just picked up a Grammy for song of the year. Apparently, by “remix,” he meant throwing dubsteppy bass over it while putting a jungle/drum and bass beat over the chorus. One of the best things about the original song was it’s simplicity, which had something to do with why it caught on with everyone (seriously, it’s even getting played on urban radio). And while it likely should lend itself to a remix, this isn’t necessarily it. Let’s hope he’s getting it all out of the way before he begins work on the fifth Slipknot album. Also, Sid, her name is Lorde, not “Lords.”
