Facebook has changed, and this time there has been very little, if any, of the typical backlash that inevitably comes with any sort of alteration to the social media platform. This update brings the ability to better customize the things that pop up on your timeline. You can now select your favorite friends (We promise, we won’t tell them) and pages to “see first” in your News Feed. This means that you never have to miss a post from your favorite band, friend, or *cough cough* metal news source. All you need to do is go to the page or friend and click the “Liked” or “Following” button, and then click “See First.”.
According to Mashable, “The feature allows you to select up to 30 accounts whose newest updates will always appear first in your feed. Posts from accounts that have been prioritized will also include a star to remind you that you have opted-in to seeing more of their posts,” and is only available mobile for iOS.
Greg Marra, Facebook’s product manager for News Feed, told Mashable that they designed the feature after their “unfollow” feature, which removes the posts from specific pages from your News Feed, and that:
“The thing we were constantly hearing was: ‘there’s a few people that I really care about and i want to make sure I don’t miss stuff from those people.'”
They also added dedicated pages for those you have unfollowed, just in case you feel like letting them back into your life, as well as a page for helping you discover new pages you may also enjoy.
