There was a bit of a health scare for the beloved Lemmy Kilmister this weekend. He was unable to perform at their Monsters Of Rock festival appearance in São Paulo, Brazil, leading to much speculation about the condition of the 69 year-old Motörhead frontman.
Today the band has released an official statement:
“Due to a food related tummy problem, unfortunately Lemmy was not able to perform the show in São Paulo. He is already feeling much better and ready to continue the South America dates! Next stop Curitiba!
Lemmy regrets this mishap very much and is looking forward to making it up to all the fans.”
Guitarist Phil Campbell claimed it was food poisoning that took the mighty Lemmy out of commission. To fill the time slot Motörhead’s Campbell and drummer Mikkey Dee joined up with Andreas Kisser and Derrick Green (photo below, more here) of Sepultura and had themselves a jam session. Judas Priest extended their set by 30 minutes before Ozzy Osbourne closed out the night.
Thankfully Lemmy is feeling better, and the band has already arrived in Curitiba, Brazil for their show tomorrow night.
