metalhead_forpress__140607014949We’ve been beating the proverbial drum about Icelandic drama Metalhead for a few months now. The drama, about the aftermath of a death in the family and the way the female protagonist deals with it, was touching, sad, occasionally funny, and moving. More importantly, it treated metal with respect, without speaking down or reducing its characters to caricatures. We weren’t the only ones singing the film’s praises, as it has an 89% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. While there was a screening of the movie at Saint Vitus Bar last year, it didn’t start to be seen outside of screenings in a handful of cities. Today, however, anyone with a computer can see the film, as it’s now available on demand to rent or own at iTunes and Amazon.
