Stone Sour put out a cover of Metal Church’s “The Dark“, for the horror movie “Fear Clinic,” which came out last month. Now the band has revealed more details about that cover album we’ve been hearing about since late last year.
We knew it was titled, Meanwhile In Burbank…, but now we know it will be an vinyl EP, and available April 18th for Record Store Day at select record shops.
Vocalist Corey Taylor explained the idea behind the covers EP on episode #31 of “The Jasta Show” podcast:
“This is something that we’ve been talking about since the first album came out, with STONE SOUR. We’ve always wanted to do this. Even as people have come, people have gone, this is still something we’ve always come back to, and we just never had the opportunity to do it. And we just kind of said, ‘Well, screw it.'”
The EP was recorded live, which should be interesting, and will be the band’s first new release since House of Gold & Bones – Part 2, which came out in 2012. It will also be the first Stone Sour release without long-time guitarist Jim Root, who was dismissed from the band over the phone last year.
