One week later, the metal mockery at The Grammys has seem to have died down by now. And the fact that the 2015 Grammy for best metal / hard rock performance went to Tenacious D’s cover of Dio’s “The Last In Line” appears to be water under the bridge. Need more proof? Watch the video above of Machine Head covering The D’s “Fuck Her Gently” this past Saturday night at Fubar in St. Louis, MO (a venue recently plagued with an unfortunate rash of band thefts and van break-ins; thankfully, there are no break-ins or thefts to report from this Machine Head show).
The reason for this occasion? This night of their “an evening with” tour happened to be on Valentine’s Day (as well as Mardi Gras, of which St. Louis boasts the second biggest celebration in the country next to New Orleans – notice the many beads on one of the patrons, no boobs unfortunately [it is YouTube, after all]). Unfortunately, the video begins after Robb Flynn has already completed the first verse, but the rest of the video quality is pretty good. A quick internet search suggests that while this may be the first footage of Machine Head covering “Fuck Her Gently” in the U.S., they covered it back in 2007 on Halloween night in Melbourne, Australia.
