It makes sense that Sonny Moore, aka Skrillex, would get into the portable speaker business. He’s at the forefront of current EDM, so his $160 “Boom” bluetooth speaker that he helped design will probably find an audience just because his name’s attached to it. In a YouTube ad promoting the speaker, Moore is shown using it, singing along to some drum and bass, reggae, and somewhat surprisingly, Fear Factory’s “Resurrection.” Head to about the two-minute mark to see him sing along. Fear Factory commented on their inclusion on their Facebook page:
“Skrillex loves FF ! Watch this video for his new speaker “Boom” he’s advertising ,towards the end he’s singing to our song “Resurrection” It’s always interesting to see someone who you wouldn’t think is a fan like your music.”
Given that Moore’s entry into the music industry was via From First to Last, it’s not that shocking of a revelation that he would like some metal, but at the same time, he could have easily used another band’s music. The clip looks somewhat organic, like it was a day in the life of what he was listening to, showing him using it on a plane and at a concert venue during soundcheck, so it’s very likely that he’s a legitimate fan of Fear Factory.
