Metal By Numbers is a weekly column in which we look at the top metal sellers and debuts of the week.
Well surprise surprise, Taylor Swift is still number one in the country. And she didn’t even need Spotify to do it. But enough of that; let’s talk metal. This week’s list of debuts isn’t as robust as past week’s, but it does involve the name Cavalera, which is just great. And while this might not be surprising at this point, Slipknot is still on top of things as .5: The Grey Chapter enters its third week. Expect next week’s list to be a bit more crazy.

This didn’t manage to outdo the band’s previous albums, but I doubt fans will care. Maybe Max could dye his hair blonde and write a song called “Rake It Off.”

This is the debut album from former members of Trouble.
Soen, Tellurian (Spinefarm) 370 sold

Lordi, Scare Force One (AFM) 320 sold
The band’s seventh album comes only a year after its previous effort.

This LA band gets its first album on the charts.

If you want to view paradise, simply look away from a 46% drop.

A tiny 5% drop.

Something about fire and a 9% drop.

A tiny boost of 2%.

As predicted, this gets boosted back up by 9%.
At The Gates, At War With Reality (Century Media) #198, 1,700 sold
This unfortunately takes a second week dive of 78%, but it’s sold about 10,000 so far.
Amaranthe, Massive Addictive (Spinefarm) 870 sold
A 16% drop isn’t so addictive.
As Blood Runs Black, Ground Zero (StandBy) 730 sold
The band’s in the middle of its final tour, so this may see a slight boost.
Sanctuary, The Year The Sun Died (Century Media) 600 sold
A drop of 12%.
Glass Cloud, Perfect War Forever (Equal Vision) 570 sold
The band’s tour with Whitechapel has done them some good as this gets boosted back up.
Crobot, Something Supernatural (Wind-Up) 530 sold
A not so super(natural) drop of 70%.

Tour numbers boost this up as well.

Starring Tom Cruise as that guy who tried to kill Hitler. Or something.

Over 10,000 sold in total.
Babymetal, Babymetal (VAP Japan) 290 sold
After making their NYC debut, it’s no surprise this would get some numbers. It’s sold 15,000 so far, which is pretty amazing for an all-Japanese album that isn’t available physically in the United States.
