pm5kThe sad and unfortunate passing of Wayne Static this past weekend impacted many, and aside from his immediate friends and family, Powerman 5000, who’d been set to start co-headlining with Static tomorrow (4), had a decision to make. Ultimately, the band have decided to press forward with the tour. Yesterday (2), Powerman 5000 vocalist Spider left a message on the band’s Facebook page, stating that they’d known about his death, but hadn’t said anything, and that while they weren’t in close touch with each other in recent years, was looking forward to the tour. “All of us in Powerman 40000, were very much looking forward to getting on the road together this month,” it said. “It was going to be incredible and, for me personally, a reunion of sorts and a chance to reconnect with an old friend.” And while they were unsure yesterday, they made the decision to continue with the tour in a statement they made today.

After much consideration we have decided to continue with the tour as planned. The first show is in Denver @ The Roxy Theater on 11/4/14. The majority of the original dates will be on as well. There may be changes to other dates. Please check with your local venues to confirm. We will be posting the official list of dates in the next couple of days.
This has been a difficult couple of days but we feel that getting out and playing for you guys is the best thing we can do right now. We are pretty sure Wayne would approve. So, come out and tear it up in honor of our buddy Wayne!

It’s probably a good way to honor Static’s legacy, even though there will be a large absence without his band playing, and ticket sales could well be impacted. That being said, Powerman 5000 was co-headlining, so it’s not like Static was the true headlining, and pulling the plug on a tour that was to start in two days would be tough as well. American Head Charge, another nu-metal band from the early 2000s, will be on the tour as well. Here are the original tour dates, which again, might change:
