Following the success of last year’s debut event, the four day Housecore Horror Film & Music Festival formed by Phil Anselmo (Down, ex-Pantera) and author/MetalSucks contributor Corey Mitchell have just announced that it’s happening again. Set to take place in Austin, TX, this year from October 23-26, it will be hosted by Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe. Housecore Horror features the kind of band list you would expect at a Horror film festival created by Phil Anselmo, but you can decide that for yourself :
- Satyricon
- Eyehategod
- Macabre
- Cattle Decapitation
- Unearth
- Warbeast
- Portal
- Wizards of Gore (featuring Casey Orr, Bruce Corbitt, and Harden Harrison of Rigor Mortis performing their old Rigor Mortis songs as a tribute to their fallen member, Mike Scaccia)
- Ringworm
- KEN mode
- SubRosa
- Acid Witch
- Author & Punisher
- Archspire
- Witchburn
- Krigblast (featuring D.R.I. drummer Felix Griffin)
- Fulgora (featuring members of Pig Destroyer and Misery Index)
- Evil United (featuring Jason McMaster of Dangerous Toys and Watchtower)
Although already having announced a killer line-up, MetalSucks says there is more to come, and that “the bill only gets sicker from here,” so make sure to keep an eye out in the future for that announcement. We’re psyched hearing about Portal and Satyricon alone.
The festival is to be hosted by Lamb of God’s own Randy Blythe the whole weekend, and he’s expected to be sharing some stories from his upcoming book between bands as well as doing a Q&A after the screening of the documentary As the Palaces Burn!
As far as the film part of the festival goes, there will be a tribute to the classic Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which is celebrating the 40th anniversary of its release this year. All of the living members of the film’s cast are to be in attendance, including:
- Gunnar Hansen (“Leatherface”)
- Marilyn Burns (“Sally Hardesty”)
- Edwin Neal (“The Hitchhiker”)
- Allen Danziger (“Jerry”)
- William Vail (“Kirk”)
- Teri McMinn (“Pam”)
- John Dugan (“Grandpa”)
- Ed Guinn (“Cattle Truck Driver”)
The cast will be around all weekend, participating on panels and Q&As, as well as signing sessions and meet and greets.
Early bird tickets are on sale right now for $199.00, but the price is expected to rise as the list of bands grows. You can visit the official HHFF website here.
