Last November, Black Sabbath guitarist/architect of metal as we know it Tony Iommi was awarded an honorary doctorate by Coventry University in “recognition of his contribution to the world of popular music.” As a result of his doctorate, Iommi has been appointed Visiting Professor of Music. Last month, he stopped by the campus, and plans on returning to the school in the Fall.

“Tony is without doubt a rock icon and he’s an inspiration to so many people around the world,” Coventry director of arts and culture Dr. Geoff Willcocks told the BBC. “It’s wonderful to have such an important and respected international figure working with us.” Yeah, it’s hard to imagine anything more awesome than having Tony Iommi show up to your class to drop some knowledge on you. He’s been quoted as saying “Good start, I’m looking forward to working with the students.” And we’re sure the students are looking forward to working with you, Tony.
