We thought we’d written about it for the final time, but the note that was found in Kurt Cobain’s wallet when he died has reared it’s head again. A few days back, we reported that the note, which appeared to mock his marriage vows with Courtney Love, might have been written by her. Charles R. Cross, who has written several books about the Nirvana frontman, said that the couple wrote notes like that to each other constantly. The note read “Do you Kurt Cobain take Courtney Michelle Love to be your lawful shredded wife even when she’s a bitch with zits and siphoning all yr money for doping and whoring?”
Love reached out to The Guardian, claiming “Obviously I wrote it – don’t you guys understand sarcasm?” She said the note was written on Phoenix Hotel stationary on New Year’s Eve 1991, while Nirvana was in town for a show with Pearl Jam and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. So there it is, case closed. Sorry Cobain truthers. Even though you’ll continue to find conspiracy theories that he was killed by her, the note appears to be nothing more than a sarcastic love note that he had with him until death.
