Many fans were wondering what this year’s GWAR-B-Q would entail since the surviving members announced plans to move forward with it. Now new details are being revealed about the event’s 5th year. In addition to being a tribute to Dave Brockie a.k.a. Oderus Urungus as previously announced, there will be a free public memorial for Brockie the day before, on Friday August 15 at Hadad’s Lake in Richmond, VA, where the event has been held in previous years. For the GWAR-B-Q, which will be held the next day on Saturday April 16, the first round of bands announced are as follows:
Hatebreed
Body Count
Kepone (w/ Michael Bishop formerly Beefcake The Mighty)
Meatmen (feat. Dutch Hercules, Tesco Vee)
GWAR’s bodyguard, Bonesnapper, commented on the event:
“The magnitude of heavy bone crushing acts at this year’s GWAR-B-Q is enough to … aahhh…crush bone.”
It looks like despite Dave Brockie’s passing, the surviving members and organizers are looking to make this year’s event bigger and better than ever. Here’s a commercial for the event, which is billed as Oderus’ final film performance:
