brockieThe world lost a great talent on Sunday, when GWAR mastermind Dave Brockie was found dead on his sofa by a roommate. According to Richmond TV station WTVR, law enforcement sources claimed that based on evidence gathered at his house, his death is being investigated as drug-related. Toxicology reports can take six week or more to process, so it might be a little while before it’s found out what killed the 50 year-old. 50 is definitely a young age to die, even though GWAR’s Cory Smoot died suddenly in 2011 of heart failure. And regardless of how he passed, it’s still a tragic loss. If indeed it’s found to be drug related, then it could serve as a sobering reminder that drugs can kill, even if only used recreationally. Of course, it would be premature to judge though, so we’ll have to wait to find out what the final cause of death is, but it doesn’t lessen the tragedy any.
