Last Christmas, former Anthrax guitarist Dan Spitz was arrested on suspicion of domestic abuse against his wife Candi. He ultimately wasn’t charged and it was also suggested that Spitz might be suffering from Parkinson’s disease. There hasn’t been much news on that situation since, but now it turns out that the couple has filed for divorce after nine years together, three months after the incident.
Dan Spitz posted the following on his website:
“It is with a mutual love and respect that we are formally announcing our legal separation and upcoming divorce. This is an amicable process and protecting the well being of our children remains our top priority during this time of transition. It is a painful time for all involved and we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time.”
Candi was quoted regarding the divorce on GossipExtra.com:
“Life is too short. No matter how much you might love someone, it may not be the right thing.”
“Obviously, the Christmas incident shows this was a long time coming. I hope we can co-parent effectively.”
The two are the parents of twin autistic boys, so hopefully they will be able to “co-parent” well, as she said. There also still isn’t anything else about Spitz having Parkinson’s, so that’s still something left for future discussions.
