If you don’t know what “bronies” are, consider yourself lucky and try not to Google it. In fact, we’ll save you some time. Essentially, it’s dudes, many of them older ones, that are into the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic phenomenon. Not that there’s anything particularly wrong with being an adult fan of the animated children’s show, but as demonstrated in the documentary, Bronies: The Extremely Unexpected Adult Fans of My Little Pony, the guys that are into it are REALLY into it. They even have conventions, one of which Andrew W.K. spoke at. And now bronies have their own metal band.

Equestria Metallers are an instrumental metal band with unknown member/members that are dedicated to spreading the brony gospel. As their Facebook page puts it:

Equestria Metallers is a band making music in the universe of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. A lot of styles and techniques were used in composing – for example, you can easily hear elements of metalcore, post-hardcore, deathcore, progressive, modern, thrash metal, death metal, black metal, power metal and so on.

Equestria Metallers have made released and released an album, Feel the Harmony, that’s on their Bandcamp page and available for free streaming, and you can download it. There’s also the above song, “Pinkie the Party,” that’s up on YouTube. It’s not that unpleasant, if a little repetitious, and punctuated by My Little Pony soundbites. If you’re a proud brony metalhead, now you have a soundtrack. Personally, if we’re going to listen to a song about a pony, we’d rather it be this one.
