If you were looking forward to seeing Sepultura on their headlining tour that kicks off this Friday, you’re going to have to make alternate plans, as the band just announced that they’re being forced to cancel tour plans. The tour will not be going on at all, which means that Unearth, Kataklysm, Scar the Martyr, Anciients, and Dark Sermon are now also without tour plans. Here’s the band’s statement, via their Facebook page:
“Due to the delay in obtaining a visa for the band to enter the United States, we regret to inform all fans that the previously announced North American tour is being cancelled. We apologize to the fans, promoters, and the bands who were going to be part of the ‘Tsunami Of Metal’ tour – UNEARTH, KATAKLYSM, SCAR THE MARTYR, ANCIIENTS, and DARK SERMON.”
It’s hard to say what’s happened with visa issues in the past month or so. Dead Letter Circus, We Butter the Bread with Butter, Twelve Foot Ninja, Godflesh and The Beards are among the international bands that have had to delay or cancel their tour dates in the past month or so. While some have theorized that the government shutdown might have had something to do with the delays in getting visas processed, that shouldn’t still be the case.
