lemmyjesusLemmy has had his share of health scares and near-death experiences, but is still raging like it’s nobody’s business. In light of health concerns, the Motörhead frontman has been advised by doctors and bandmates to slow down his rock star lifestyle, which he hasn’t completely taken kindly to.

However, the metal icon is finally okay talking about it and how some of the warnings may have resonated. In a recent interview with Classic Rock magazine he told the publication he didn’t mind answering  questions about his health and spoke pretty candidly for the cover story for their November issue.

“‘You’ve got to stop smoking, Lem,’ they kept saying,” he told the magazine about the warnings. “Fuck you. I don’t like people telling me what to do, even if they might be right.”

Lemmy actually quit smoking a year ago and said he has cut down on the Jack and cokes, for diabetic purposes related to the sugary soda of course. The soon-to-be 68 year old said in the interview, he never expected to make it to 30. But he spoke very pointedly about the future, speaking of new Motörhead material, indicating neither he nor the band are obsessing about the end.

“Death is an inevitability, isn’t it? You become more aware of that when you get to my age. I don’t worry about it. I’m ready for it. When I go, I want to go doing what I do best. If I died tomorrow, I couldn’t complain. It’s been good,” he said.

Motörhead will release their new album Aftershock October 22.
