If there’s one thing we like, it’s gore, and lots of it. If there’s one album we’re really digging lately, it’s Kvelertak’s sophomore album, Meir. Director Fredrik Hana combined both in the band’s video for “Manelyst,” which premiered on Invisible Oranges yesterday. In fact, the video is across the board in its bloodiness. The Exorcist-like devil possession? Check. A guy eating his own organs? Sure, why not? Stabbings, evil surgeons, necrophilia, and Blair Witch Project-like found footage? All present. It’s safe to say that this video is probably NSFW, even though it shows more than tells. Here’s what the director had to say about it:
“I wanted to make a video that didn’t have any repetitious elements,” said Hana. “I wanted to get as far away as possible from the kind of videos that has two, maybe three unique elements on constant circulation. Also, I totally dig horror films, always have, so I wanted to make something that showed my unconditional love for the genre. Working with this particular band just makes me want to go all the way.”
Meir comes out on March 26th on Roadrunner Records.
