Earlier today, Mayhem Fest officially announced the lineup to this year’s bill during a press conference/Q&A at The Whiskey in L.A. And now we can officially say that Rob Zombie and Five Finger Death Punch will be co-headlining the touring festival, along with a pretty diverse metal lineup.

In addition to Zombie and FFDP, the main stage will feature Mastodon and Amon Amarth. There will be three other stages: The Jagermeister Stage, The Musician’s Institute Stage, and the Sumerian/Headbang for the Highway Concourse Stage. The other bands appearing will be Machine Head, Children Of Bodom, Behemoth, Job For A Cowboy, Emmure, Born Of Osiris, Motionless In White, Butcher Babies, Battlecross, Huntress, Thrown Into Exile and City In The Sea.

First thing that caught our attention was the main stage. While Zombie and FFDP are safe headliner picks, we’re surprised to see Mastodon back on Mayhem Fest (which seems to imply that a new release could be on the way. And though Amon Amarth were one of the group’s to let their involvement slip out early, we’re pleasantly shocked to see the Viking metal gods get a chance to play on the main stage. Furthermore, getting to see Machine Head, Behemoth and Children Of Bodom perform within the same day is enough to get us looking forward to Mayhem Fest this year.

Tickets will be  on sale beginning this Friday March 22nd at 12:00 noon local time via www.rockstarmayhemfest.com or through www.livenation.com
