Last year, Metal Sucks appealed to readers to get involved with helping crowd-fund filmmaker Kat Candler’s short film, Black Metal. She’d been seeking $6,000, and wound up raising over $7,100. So the short was made, and like her last short, Hellion, was accepted into the Sundance Film Festival. As a thanks, the filmmaker is screening the entire nine-minute film for ten days, starting today.

Black Metal is an understated drama about a guitarist of a black metal band, Crown of Horns, dealing with the aftermath of an act by one of its fans. The band featured is actually Texas band Vesperian Sorrow, and there’s music featured by Horned Almighty and Pallbearer. Metal Sucks contributor Corey Mitchell served as both the music supervisor and the ‘true crime consultant’ for the film. This will only be up until January 27, so check it out now at Metal Sucks or here after the jump.
