Back in March,  New Zealand singer-songwriter Kimbra (otherwise known as the girl in Gotye’s still-ubiquitous “Somebody That I Used To Know,” which is the year’s biggest-selling single) revealed via Twitter that she was a huge fan of The Dillinger Escape Plan. At the time, we’d mused as to whether that might lead to the two collaborating together, as a tweet exchange led to DEP frontman Greg Puciato’s collaboration with Devin Townsend. Well, it turns out the Kimbra is collaborating with The Dillinger Escape Plan’s Ben Weinman for her new album.

“There’s a couple of cool people that have expressed interest in collaboration for the next album,” she told Music Feeds.TV at Australia’s Splendour in the Grass festival. “I’ve been writing with Benjamin Weinman from the Dillinger Escape Plan. “He got in touch with me and said that he was into my record, and I said ‘you wouldn’t believe, you were one of my favorite bands in high school. He was stoked, so yeah, it’s kind of awesome to be hitting up Benjamin Weinman and be like ‘put some guitars down on my new song.'”

She also mentions she’s been working with R&B singer John Legend, so suffice it to say that he next album should be pretty diverse. And hey, if Benjamin can write a song anywhere near as catchy as Gotye’s, he could be sitting on a gold mine. Ben’s definitely psyched, as a tweet linking to the article about the collaboration said “If u have an open mind 2 anything other than metal this girl is the bomb.”
