During his interview with That Metal Show, Axl Rose let it slip that his former bandmate Duff McKagan would be opening for Guns N’ Roses on select dates. Now it has been confirmed that Duff McKagan’s Loaded will indeed open for Guns N’ Roses on two dates. While it’s unclear whether the ex-GN’R bassist’s band will appear on more dates, here’s what’s been confirmed so far:
12/ 16 – Seattle, WA – Key Arena
12/ 17 – Vancouver, BC – Pacific Coliseum
As we’ve said before, this isn’t too surprising since Duff has been on good terms with Axl following his appearance on stage with the new lineup in the UK last year. At the same time, though, McKagan is still in Velvet Revolver with Slash (although, their search for a singer hasn’t been going so well). We also can’t help but point out that this comes less than a week after GN’R’s induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame was announced.
Is this proof that Duff is the one individual who can bring Axl and Slash together before the Hall Of Fame ceremony? Maybe, but we still wouldn’t hold our breath. Keep in mind that Duff isn’t the only past GN’R member to join Axl and his new Guns onstage (guitarist Izzy Stradlin has joined the band onstage numerous times). The real beef remains between Axl and Slash, and whether that will ever get resolved is anyone’s guess, but also doesn’t seem likely. One thing is extremely likely, though: Duff will join Axl and GN’R onstage in Seattle and Vancouver.
