Last week, Dave Mustaine let it slip that Megadeth would be touring with Motörhead, Volbeat, and Lacuna Coil next year. At the time, though, it was unclear whether Megadeth would be touring with each band separately or if they’d be touring with all three as part of Gigantour. Earlier today, though, it was confirmed that all three will indeed be making up the lineup to Gigantour’s return.

Though exact dates and cities have yet to be announced, the first Gigantour since 2008 will tentatively run from January to March of 2012. The press release stated that Mustaine personally handpicked Motörhead, Volbeat, and Lacuna Coil for 2012’s Gigantour. However, both Mustaine and bassist Dave Ellefson stated over the Summer that three of the four bands were locked in for Gigantour, implying that there would be four other bands besides Megadeth on the bill. Adding onto the speculation about a fourth band was Devildriver’s Dez Fafara, who tweeted about a “big” tour the band was booked for around the same time Gigantour would be. Yet if there was a fourth band on the bill, why wouldn’t they announce it along with Motörhead, Volbeat, and Lacuna Coil?

Whether there is a fourth band or not, this is still a pretty solid lineup. Megadeth and Motörhead on the same bill alone make this tour exciting, while both Lacuna Coil and Volbeat are solid live acts. And if this tour continues to play theaters (as the 2008 addition did after the first two Gigantours played arenas), then this will definitely be an awesome show to catch.
