Standout Moment(s):
It wasn’t long after Nightwish’s 2023 performance on 70000tons of Metal that Crownshift announced their formation, bringing together members of Nightwish, ex-Children of Bodom, and Finntroll. The supergroup immediately sparked excitement, but it wasn’t until 2024 that their debut album arrived. With each member committed to other projects, the prospect of a full tour seemed uncertain.
That made their live appearance at the 2025 edition of 70000tons all the more anticipated. We caught both sets, curious to see how this new fusion of Finland’s finest would translate to the stage. While their sound may not match the impact of their main projects, Crownshift delivered a fun, groove-blend of melodic metal that came to life in front of 3,000 cruisers.

What is the Artist Spotlight?
Well, it’s more than a review of their performance; as 70000tons goes, each band is a headliner, and we treat each one as such, giving them their own spread, discussing who they are and what they’ve been up to since the cruise. Each spotlight coincides with any updates from 70000tons organizers (if any), leading to days before setting sail. An extensive coverage like no other.
