Sinsaenum have released their third single, “Obsolete and Broken,” from their upcoming album In Devastation, out August 8 via earMUSIC. The track mixes brutal riffs with melodic clean vocals, signaling a shift in sound. This marks the band’s first new material since the death of drummer Joey Jordison and guitarist Frédéric Leclercq’s father. The current lineup includes Attila Csihar, Sean Zatorsky, Stéphane Buriez, Heimoth, and drummer Andre Joyzi. Produced by Lasse Lammert, In Devastation is described as Sinsaenum’s most ambitious album yet.
Frédéric Leclercq comments:
“‘Obsolete and Broken’ is one the first songs I wrote for this new album. In my opinion, it has all the elements that define our new direction. It is melodic yet aggressive, it has intricate/technical parts, the bridge has clean vocals and guitar, and I’m particularly proud of the solo section which took me quite a while to get right. Lyrically, the song is more sci-fi based, which is also unusual for us.”
