Due to severe weather, Foo Fighters were forced to end their concert early at Citi Field in Queens, New York, last night (17). The band managed to perform 13 songs out of their usual lengthy setlist before lightning threatened the audience’s safety.
During the show, frontman Dave Grohl informed the crowd of the weather situation, stating they would play “as much as we can until someone says it’s not safe for you.” As the band began playing “Everlong,” Grohl was notified to stop the performance less than a minute into the song.
Citi Field announced the concert’s closure at 10:30 p.m. on social media, advising attendees to exit the venue safely. Fans had paid between $60 and $120 for parking, and ticket prices started at $80.
The band issued the following statement:
“We are so disappointed that we were unable to play our full set for tonight’s fantastic crowd at Citi Field. But the safety of our fans, the crew and everyone working in the stadium comes first, so when it was determined that there was no safe way to continue the show in this dangerous weather, we had no choice but to call it a night. We’re grateful for every second we were able to play for you and looking forward to seeing you again — maybe as soon as Friday!”
Foo Fighters are scheduled to return to Citi Field tomorrow (19) and will continue their Everything Or Nothing At All tour.
