Australian deathcore outfit Thy Art Is Murder have revealed Tyler Miller of Aversions Crown as their new vocalist. This announcement follows the recent departure of their longtime vocalist, CJ McMahon, and the controversy surrounding the split. Miller debuted with Thy Art Is Murder during the opening show of their European tour in Oberhausen, Germany, on September 27. Notably, he played a crucial role, apparently part of the re-recording vocals for the band’s recently released album, Godlike. Aversions Crown released their latest effort in 2020, Hell Will Come For Us All, via Nuclear Blast. They have experienced a period of inactivity over the past year due to the cancellation of their U.S. tour, attributed to visa-related issues.

The parting ways between Thy Art Is Murder and CJ McMahon transpired amid controversy linked to McMahon’s social media comments last month, which were perceived as transphobic. In response to this controversy, the band expressed solidarity with the transgender community by sharing the transgender flag. They subsequently confirmed McMahon’s departure on September 22.

Thy Art Is Murder cited various factors for their decision, including concerns about McMahon’s character and judgment. In response to his dismissal, McMahon offered an explanation through a video, asserting that his comments were not intended to be against the transgender community but rather related to his aim of protecting children. This situation has generated considerable debate and divergent opinions. Despite the ongoing controversy, Thy Art Is Murder is embarking on an extensive touring cycle supporting their latest release. The journey will provide an opportunity to assess Miller’s performance as the band’s new vocalist and any potential developments that may arise during the tour.
