Similar to various significant life events, the anticipation surrounding the release of a new album can lead to unusual and unexpected experiences. One illustrative case is the release of Every Time I Die’s Radical in 2021, followed shortly by their announcement of a breakup in 2022. Today (22nd) we find ourselves in another intriguing situation, with the controversy surrounding Thy Art Is Murder’s former frontman, CJ McMahon. The band has recently disclosed that McMahon is no longer part of the group, and they’ve replaced his vocals on their newly released album, Godlike, which is out today (22nd), with a currently undisclosed new frontman. This decision comes in the wake of concerns about McMahon’s actions on social media, where he faced accusations of sharing transphobic comments last month. The controversy prompted the band to not only take a public stance by displaying the transgender flag on their social media but also to part ways with McMahon completely.
Interestingly, McMahon’s departure has surprised both fans and McMahon himself, as he returned from his social media absence to issue the following brief statement:
“Yes this is how I found out. And yes it’s not the whole story. I’ll be going live tomorrow at 5pm Sydney Australia time.”
However, the former singer once again posted the phrase, “burn everyone to death,” which refers to his previous controversial comments. This latest statement has left some wondering if there’s more to it or if it serves as a harsh and possibly conclusive remark. The future remains uncertain, and we will keep you updated on any further developments.
In the midst of this ongoing situation on social media, artists are beginning to chime in, one of which is Falling In Reverse vocalist Ronnie Radke, who has expressed the following on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Why is everyone in this music scene so scared to stand up for each other? GROW SOME BALLS, or is that transphobic too?
