Paws, Pets & Metal is Metal Insider’s newest column on bands with pets, discovering who watches them on the road, and more. Get to know more about these metal furbabies. We caught up with St. Louis horror metal project The Lion’s Daughter guitarist/vocalist Rick Giordano reveals having your dog eat a Slayer shirt is one way to introduce your pet to metal.

Tell us more about your pet(s) and their names?

Lizzy is a 13-year-old shepherd and a stray from East St. Louis. Clearly named after Thin Lizzy. Debbie is a four month old Rottweiler/Hellhound monster. Clearly named after mean ass white women named Debbie.

Have you ever taken your pet on tour?

No. They like to trash hotel rooms and cause trouble.

Who looks after your pet while on the road?

My mom is the only person who likes me enough to do this.

What’s your pet’s favorite song or album?

Lizzy’s definitely a big Burt Bacharach fan. Anything mellow that she can just sleep through. I’m pretty sure Debbie’s favorite band is Anal Cunt. She’s not very PC at all.

How did you introduce your pet to metal?

Probably when she ate my Slayer shirt.

What animal charity means most to you?

Stray rescue of St. Louis. We’ve done multiple fundraisers for them. I got Lizzy from them years ago and will forever be grateful for all the difficult and heartbreaking work that they do!

The Lion’s Daughter recently revealed their new full-length record, Bath House, is scheduled to arrive. Check out the video for the title track below:
