The flyer seen off to the side has been seen at Hollywood, California’s Musicians Institute this past month. The ad at first would confirm rumors regarding bassist Matt Snell’s departure from Five Finger Death Punch. However, shortly after Blabbermouth ran a story about the flyer, the band’s management denied the flyer’s legitimacy and released the following statement:
“I think it was an honest mistake on someone’s behalf, but we would like to be clear that NOTHING about this Musicians Institute flyer was approved by Five Finger Death Punch or their management in any way. This flyer’s existence was honestly not made known to the band or to management until it was posted on Blabbermouth. Even the band photo on the flyer is over three years old and has [former Five Finger guitarist] Darryl Roberts in it, which hasn’t been used in years. This flyer with an outdated photo and list of criteria are not from Five Finger Death Punch in any way, shape or form.”
Regardless, the criteria listed in the flyer is pretty hysterical to read. Our buds at Metal Sucks do a good job breaking down each douche-tastic requirement, so we’ll let you read that for yourselves. We’d think that anyone writing a want ad would be able to spell things like “tattooes” and “harmonies.”
However, while management made it damn clear that the flyer wasn’t real, they said nothing regarding the actual auditions. Is Five Finger Death Punch indeed looking for a new bassist? Whether said replacement needs to be under 35 years old and below 6 feet tall is anyone’s guess. Yet given guitarist Jason Hook’s “no comment” and management tiptoeing around the topic, it seems likely that Snell is indeed on the outs.
An official announcement, though, has yet to be made regarding Snell’s stance in the band. We’ll keep you posted when more develops.
