After the firing of Megadeth’s Dave Ellefson, and Dave Mustaine’s video tease of the band’s new bassist, rumors have been swirling and speculation growing about who Megadeth’s new mystery bassist may be. One name keeps coming up, that of Testament bass player Steve Di Giorgio. Mustaine posted a Cameo where he spoke to a fan and announced that he was walking around the studio. Mustaine then turned the camera toward a person lying on the floor who he claimed was Megadeth’s new bassist.

Unfortunately for fans, a chair obscured the person, rendering him unidentifiable. A quick glimpse of a bass in the foreground has led to much speculation. Who do we know who plays that model bass? Many believe it is Di Giorgio. He may be the man who will appear on the new record and on stage for the upcoming tour. Only time will tell.

Previously recorded bass tracks will be replaced with new ones. Mustaine said this about the recording process.

“…We’re gonna have someone coming in in a couple of weeks to replace the bass tracks that we had. Which should be relatively quick because the person we’re talking to is a stellar bass player. And hopefully this will be an ongoing thing after the recording. Or we will find someone prior to the recording that will be our permanent guy going forward.”
