Lars Ulrich, the drummer for Metallica, paid a special virtual visit to an extraordinary little boy. Two-year-old Milan Rossignol will be undergoing chemotherapy to battle a severe form of cancer called Langerhans cell histiocytosis. The affliction has rendered him non-verbal, but the little boy is fully capable of expressing himself in other ways, most notably his smile.
That smile is on full display when his father plays Metallica videos for him; it is something the two enjoy together very much. Doctors at the Montreal Children’s Hospital decided to build on this theme in young Milan’s treatment by reaching out to Metallica on Twitter. Soon after, Milan received a call from Ulrich, who spoke to the young fighter and the entire family. Milan’s mother Catherine, his father Yannick, and siblings Coralie and Loïc all visited with the iconic drummer as he brought incredible joy to the courageous young boy. “Milan made a big smile when he realized that Lars was speaking to him,” said Yannick Rossignol. “To see him like this with a beautiful smile for us, it’s very amazing.”

Ulrich posted about the experience on his Instagram page. See below.
