Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine is Metal Insider’s new column during this time of isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We asked artists five questions on what’s been keeping them busy ranging from their favorite movies, food they’ve been eating, music they’ve been listening to and more. We caught up with Major Moment as they’ve been spending this time staying busy.
What have you been doing to pass time during Quarantine?
Time flies by really fast when you’re busy (or asleep lol), and we’ve been busier than ever in 2020, so there has been very little to no downtime for us. We’ve worked throughout the quarantine & lockdown, both on and outside of our music, so it didn’t really affect our productivity in any way, we just keep doing our thing. Mentally, of course it was challenging to go outside every day and see boarded restaurants, closed businesses, people scared and angry, but we’ve been pretty lucky not to get affected by this pandemic in the worst ways we could have.
Have you been listening to any music or have any playlists worth checking out?
We have been checking out a lot of music made by other bands of our genre, their new releases, and not only because we want to stay up to date, but just because that’s the music we like. On our Spotify page we have a couple of personal playlists of our favorite currently released songs. Recommend you to check them out if you want to know us better! We try to update them frequently, but we’ve also made one specifically for you guys reading this:
A lot of people have been spending this time cooking including making their own bread, what food have you been prepping during this time?
Since we didn’t have any downtime lately, we unfortunately had to cook less than we normally would, which is a shame, Sasha is a great cook, an extraordinary pastry chef, and her creations are to die for! Sadly, we now have to compromise for whatever is on UberEats / DoorDash, cooking quality food takes a lot of time, and we’d rather spend it cooking up quality tunes, haha.
In terms of entertainment, what movies, TV shows, books, or games have been keeping you busy?
We finally caught up on Black Mirror. Amazing TV series, loved it! Creatively / aesthetically it’s close to what we want to do as creators as well, it matches our vision for calling out issues in our society through hyperbolism and imagining what might happen if we don’t acknowledge those issues on time. Ironically, we shot our latest music video for “The Flood” before we started watching Black Mirror, yet some fans recognized some similarities in the mood and style of our video. So we feel like we’re going in the right direction already.
Speaking of our music video, thank you guys for premiering it. In just a couple of months we crossed the 100K views mark on YouTube, and won some cool awards in a few film festivals. It’s cool to see our hard work being acknowledged. Andrey really got into audiobooks. He drives for living, so listening to audiobooks and podcasts while working has been his latest lifehack. Most of what he’s listening to is music business related, podcasts about marketing, interviews with the industry folks, etc. The exception being The Joe Rogan Experience, Andrey can get through 3-4 episodes a day (that’s a lot of driving).Sasha claims that the best time to unload after a long week is to watch a movie. She usually picks one of the movies on her list (yes, she does have a “to watch list”). A great trailer or a friend’s recommendation is enough to get on that list. The latest she watched and was so moved by was “A Star Was Born” (2018).
What advice do you have for your fans in isolation during this time?
Stay safe, keep discovering yourselves, learn something new, and listen to some great music! 🤘🏻 The possibilities of discovering new things are literally endless nowadays, thanks to YouTube.
