Ok, the headline is a little misleading, but it’s still true. Faith No More/Fantomas/Mondo Cane vocalist Mike Patton will be reprising his role as The Darkness in this Fall’s The Darkness II. Patton is no stranger to voicework. In addition to having done voicework for the first game, he’s also done work on 2009’s Bionic Commando, as well as voicing some the monsters in I Am Legend. In the game, players will control Jackie Estacado, who inherits the evil powers of The Darkness from his father. In a press release, Patton said he enjoyed voicing the character:

“It feels really good to be the bad guy, and The Darkness is as bad as it gets. I’ve read through the script and Jackie is going to be a brutally tortured soul. I’m looking forward to making his life a living hell.”

There’s no firm release date for the game, other than sometime this Fall, but 2K Games will unveil the game during the Game Developers Conference 2011 in San Francisco from March 2-4.
