The Detroit police department released their investigation photos of the late Chris Cornell’s hotel room from the night he died. Sadly, we can see various prescription drugs and the exercise band rigged on the bathroom door in these photographs. TMZ shared disturbing images of this, which are not for the faint of heart. The Detroit News respectfully removed some of them. View at your own risk
Billboard shared a report that was released on Tuesday (11) via a Freedom of Information Act Request stating Cornell had a “well defined ligature mark present on the neck/throat area.”
Cornell died on May 18th, and was found by his bodyguard, Martin Kristen, who had kicked in the door to his hotel room at the MGM Grand Casino Hotel just hours after the singer had finished performing with Soundgarden. Despite the toxicology report reading a handful of prescription drugs in his system, his death was ruled as a suicide.
Audio of the 911 call made by a hotel employee on the night of Cornell’s death has been obtained by local ABC-TV affiliate WXYZ.
The audio starts off with the employee saying (transcribed by Blabbermouth):
“I have a non-responsive guest in the hotel, a 50-year-old male inside of Room 1136,” to which the dispatcher responds, “Non-responsive — he’s not breathing?” The hotel employee responds, “No. They found out that the guest is attempting to hang himself, so they’re trying to get him down so they can assist with CPR.”
The audio reveals Cornell was attempting to kill himself, meanwhile, it’s been previously reported Cornell’s widow Vicky called his bodyguard, concerned that Cornell didn’t sound right. Additionally, it’s been reported his widow called the hotel’s front desk, claiming a female employee hung up on her. One thing we know is certain, all of this is present and tragic.
