Steve Vai and Devin Townsend are scheduled to reunite, live onstage for the first time in nearly a quarter of a century. The reunion will take place at Norway’s Starmus Festival and the former bandmates are set to cover tunes from Vai’s Sex & Religion (1993). Townsend revealed this information to eonmusic at the recent Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards in London on Monday evening (12).

Townsend expressed his excitement stating:

“We’re doing one of my songs with an orchestra, and I’m singing with him for the first time in 25 years. I’m also playing some of his stuff, so I think, now that I’ve been elevated to Riff Lord, I may get a promotion!”

Later he was asked what material from the 1993 album they were going to perform:

“We’re just doing one song. We’ve known each other for many years, so to be able to get together like that is really cool.”

To celebrate Townsend’s Riff Lord win at the recent Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards, The Devin Townsend Project unveiled the lyric video to the song “Offer Your Light” taken from 2016’s Transcendence.
