Remember Caninus, the death metal band from Most Precious Blood guitarist Justin Brannan and lead singer Budgie, a pit terrier? Sadly, that side project is on permanent hiatus following the death of Budgie last year. However, if there’s dog-sized hole in your heart, we’ve got some good news, because Pugtopsy is here. Fronted by a pug named Pupcake, the minute and a half “Snorts of Sorrow” is dare we say, a little more accessible than Caninus was, mainly because a pug is much less intimidating.
Gimmicky? Absolutely. However, it’s all for a good cause, as proceeds of the sale of the single will go to Neüterhead: Ace of Spays, a non-profit that uses heavy music to raise funds to assist pet rescue groups with the costs of spaying and neutering. You can buy the single on iTunes (as well as “Milk Bone of the Christ”) knowing it’s all going to a good paws, er good cause.
