The video picks for this week are a bit diverse, which includes a lyric video and concludes with a beautiful animation. There have been quite a few announcements, premieres, and getting many excited for 2017 and that mostly consists of this week’s top five.
5) Cranial Engorgement – “Horrific Existence”
Starting off with brutality where the name speaks for itself with Cranial Engorgement’s “Horrific Existence.” It is the first single and title track of the new album set to release on February 10, 2017, via Gore House Productions.
4) Xandria “We Are Murderers (We All)”
I typically avoid to include lyric videos in this, however, it was too good to pass up. “We Are Murderers (We All) is from Xandria’s upcoming album Theater Of Dimensions that will be released on January 27, 2017, via Napalm Records. It features Björn Strid of Soilwork, and I hope it will bring them to North America soon enough.
3) Issues, “Slow Me Down”
Issues unveiled the new music video for “Slow Me Down” which came from the album Headspace that was released earlier this spring. The video brings you to a dysfunctional home life as it appears to be a dramatization of infidelity and its aftermath.
2) Gone is Gone “Dublin”
The supergroup that includes members of Mastodon, Queens of the Stone Age and At the Drive-In have premiered the video for the new song “Dublin.” The video captures their atmospheric and experimental style that we have already seen on their self-titled EP. “Dublin” is off of their upcoming first full-length album entitled Echolocation and it will be out on January 6 via Rise Records/Black Dune Records.
1) Crippled Black Phoenix “Scared and Alone”
As Crippled Black Phoenix were about to kick off their tour, they premiered the video for “Scared and Alone” off of their latest LP Bronze. The melancholic video was animated by Costin Chioreanu as it depicts the definition of “Black Dog,” which is a metaphor for one suffering with depression.
