We already knew that Chopped chef and restaurant owner Chris Santos has an eclectic taste in metal from the formation of his Blacklight Media label through Metal Blade. He’s just made another signing, with Canadian prog-metal band Oni joining the band’s roster. The band’s debut album, Ironshore, will be released on November 25th, or Black Friday. What makes the band stand out? For one, they have a xylo-synth player. Yes, that’s xylophone and synth. And the band’s certainly unique sounding, even without that.
Anyone that goes to Ozzfest Meets Knotfest this weekend will get an early chance to see them. They’ll be playing the Knotfest on Sunday on the Nuclear Blast stage at noon, and Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe will be making a special guest appearance with the band. The following week, they’ll hop on the road with the Max & Iggor Cavalera Return to Roots Tour for select dates, then playing a handful of dates with Exmortus before jumping on the road with Children of Bodom, Abbath and Exmortus.
Here’s their video for “Eternal Recurrence,” which will be on the album. Tour dates are below:
