UK metal rag Metal Hammer is turning 30 years old, and to commemorate, they’ve enlisted 15 artists to cover songs from those 30 years. Among them are Korn covering Faith No More’s “We Care a Lot,” Asking Alexandria doing Slipknot’s “Duality,” Devin Townsend covering Accept’s classic “Fast As a Shark” along with help from Accept’s Wolf Hoffmann and Meshuggah’s Fredrik Thornendal, and Cane Hill covering Alice In Chains’ “We Die Young.” Korn themselves are the subject of a cover, with The Qemists covering “Blind.”

The compilation will be included with the release of the 30th anniversary issue of the magazine, and will be on CD. That’s appropriate, given that the CD itself has only been commercially available for about 31 years. At any rate, even though all the songs will eventually wind up on the internet eventually, Metal Hammer has given us 30 seconds of each song. In some cases, that’s more than enough – in others, it leaves us wanting to hear the rest of the song. Give a listen.
