the contortionist

If you keep wondering how much your favorite bands make when they head out on the road, Billboard‘s Boxscore released their latest batch of earnings and attendance from many artists, and we’ve summarized them here for you.

Our friends at Billboard gather all the numbers for us to get an idea of how much money is involved at a band’s show. It’s good for educational purposes and to understand better how or why all the bands playing (or not playing)  your town make their decisions. This time, the list is rather short but there’s always a lesson to learn even when we see some bands we’ve reported in the past. These are the bands that make you sad after every one of your local gigs:

It’s always amazing to see Muse doing as good as they do. We all knew they were pretty successful but not “two million dollars per weekend” successful. Scorpions, who’s arguably a more iconic and classic band, can barley pull half of what Muse did in five days of their Las Vegas residency showing how fame is really subjective in the industry. We’ve seen Pittsburgh numbers in the past but it appears that no matter who plays at the Stage AE won’t ever sell out, but you’ll get close to it if you play there, which is nice.

Pseudo-writer with little to no expectations of ever winning a Pulitzer but totally down to write about your unknown band if it's good to my ears. I enjoy long walks on the beach, deep conversation, holding hands and attending Satanic music shows every now and then.
