meshuggah 306Granted, it’s not that much Meshuggah, but 26 seconds of Meshuggah is better than what some bands do in their entire careers. Earlier today, the band shared a brief video snippet of some guitars being recorded in the studio on their Facebook page. A semi-circle of Marshall amps with various heads on them are shown as an evil, low guitar tone plays. It sounds not unlike an engine revving towards the end, and given how menacing it sounds on it’s own, it’s pretty easy to imagine how pummeling it would sound with Thomas Haake, Dick Lovgren and Jens Kidman attached to it.

There’s no word yet on when a new album will be out, but in an interview last year, guitarist Marten Hagstome said they expect to have an album out sometime this year. The band’s last album, Koloss, was released in 2012.
