A few months ago, Crosscheck drummer Tom Alderson was victim of an assault at the This Is Hardcore Festival, by Ian Adams of Heavy Chains and Suburban Scum vocalist Ryan “Karebear” Taylor, leaving Alderson seriously damaged with “physical injury and trauma to his head and other parts of his body.” Alderson posted the following detailing his recovery:
It’s been a long time coming, probably too long, so I just want to tell everyone what’s been up with me as of late.
I did not undergo brain surgery, plastic surgery, I did not die, all of the rumors I’ve heard related to that are far from the truth. I suffered broken bones in my face, abrasions on my head and a severe concussion. All of which I was admitted to the hospital for.
After about two weeks in the hospital, I was sent to a brain rehabilitation facility, where I did things like physical, occupational and speech therapy every day. I’m still in the process of my rehabilitation, currently I’m going there for outpatient treatments several times a week. It is undetermined how much longer I’ll be treated until I’ve made a full recovery. They have helped me out immensely with everything. I am also still out of work for the time being and I will be, until I’m cleared by my doctor to go back.
My medical bills are slowly coming in every day so that’s far from over, as far as I can tell.
I am not, -I repeat- I am not pursuing ANY type of legal actions against R5, this is hardcore or anything as a whole. Anything you’ve heard or read not directly from myself is more than likely a rumor.I have a laundry list of people to thank, who have reached out to me in the last few weeks. Countless people have booked benefit shows on my behalf and done more than I could even dream of to help me out and for that, I couldn’t be more thankful. Thank you everyone, I’ve seen so many people doing positive things on my behalf who I don’t even know and it truly humbles me. I want to thank my girlfriend Jenn first of all, for being next to me every step of the way through this, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Greg Falchetto and the back to school jam, Texas, the entire Midwest, Atlanta, Florida, New York, Ohio and anyone else who has thrown a show or even donated one penny to me.
This entire situation is absolutely overwhelming and humbling to me, especially seeing so many, of not only my close friends, but people Ive never even met met or seen before asking about me and wishing my well being. It is quite the emotional roller coaster ride and my only priority is continuing to get better and continuing my life as I know how.
Thank you, everyone. From the bottom of my heart.
Today, Alderson have received a clear from his doctor to return to work, which shows signs of a successful recovery, considering the physical and brain damage he suffered after the attack. Alderson shared the news via Twitter by simply posting the following image:
