Atlanta’s The Living Room Recording Studio is celebrating fifteen years by releasing a covers album called Cease and Desist. Mastodon’s Brent Hinds lent his talents to a cover of soul legend Bill Withers’ “Ain’t No Sunshine.” Mastodon being as eclectic as they are, it is far from out of character to see them recording covers outside of metal (See Record Store Day Exclusives w/ Feist & The Flaming Lips). Brent’s raspy voice fits the song pretty well, and it’s refreshing to see what such a talented artist can do outside of heavy metal. The rest of the compilation finds other Atlanta-area musicians that have recorded at the studio covering songs by the likes of The Cure and The Kinks.
If you also want to see Zakk Wylde covering “Ain’t No Sunshine” while wearing a horse head mask and slapping a chicken with Black Label Society, you know, for research purposes, then look no further than right below!
