As heavy and serious as Mastodon’s music can be, when they’re not tackling themes of mortality and survival, they’ve proven to have great senses of humor outside of their music. Be it the “Show Yourself” video or Brent Hinds shilling for his favorite bar, the Atlanta quartet are funny dudes. And with their current (and continuing) tour being sponsored by Pabst Blue Ribbon, it was just a matter of time before they did something fun with the brand. Shot once again by Newmerica, they’ve made a post called “Sponsored Tour Guides” that showcases their dry senses of humor.

“Andy Riggs,” allegedly PBR’s Music Tour Manager, accompanies the band on the road, giving them a boot camp in representing the brand. That includes properly holding a can to show off the logo, paying off the band’s real life tour manager Darren Sanders, and of course, drinking copious amounts of Pabst Blue Ribbon. Of course he grates on the band’s nerves after a while. The best thing about the clip is that it’s not subtle about it’s product placement, but it’s not a blatantly annoying ad, either. With both the band and the brand willing to have a laugh at their own expense, it’s a great reminder that the band’s tour is continuing, and if you want to have a beer, that beer might be a PBR.
